Matar paneer recipe (North Indian style)

Hi friends! Today I'm going to share with you the recipe of Matar Paneer. Nowadays, the main question in everyone's house is "Kya banau aaj khane ke liye?" We're bored of the daily stuff we eat everyday. This calls for a change in the menu.. so I referred to a different method to make paneer today and let me tell you it is very delicious. Actually I hate both paneer as well as peas (mattar) but I loved this curry a lot. (Probably because of the effort I put into it. I have never made anything with paneer before.. haha). But I would recommend you all to give this recipe a try. Everyone in my home liked it too and let me tell you it was finished within 2 days which was quite an achievement! :')

Matar paneer

●Matar paneer recipe (North Indian style)

*Ingredients required:

☆ 1cup of matar (peas)
☆200 g of paneer
☆2 tomatoes
☆ 2 inch ginger
☆ 4 cloves of garlic
☆1 medium sized onion
☆ 1 bay leaf
☆ 1 small stick of cinnamon
☆ 2 cardamom pods
☆1 tbsp cumin seeds
☆1 tsp cumin powder (if you don't have this, just roast cumin on a low flame and crush it using a mortar and pestle)
☆ 1½ tbsp of chilly powder
☆ 1½ tbsp coriander powder
☆ 1½ tbsp garam masala
☆ 1 tsp besan
☆ 2-3 green chillies
☆ 3 tbsp of oil
☆ Salt as per taste

*Instructions:
1. In a tawa, heat oil. Add sliced onion, ginger and garlic. Mix this until it turns to a slight brown colour. Now add tomatoes and stir for a while. Then close the tawa with a lid for about 10 min. After that stir your mixture and by now it must turn soft and mushy. Once it has cooked, keep it on the side and let it cool completely. Now add this mixture to your blender and make a good paste out of it.
2. Now take the same tawa and add around 2 tbsp sp of oil into it. Add the spices 1 bay leaf, around 2 pods of cardamom, green chilies around 2 to 3, cumin seeds (1tsp). Now add about 1 tsp of besan and stir it well.
3. Now add the blended tomato-onion paste to this mixture. Mix continuously and then you will see that your mixture is thickening and finally it will form a paste like consistency.
4. Add about 1 ½ cup of water and mix well until a uniform mixture is formed. Now add your peas (mattar) to this curry. Close the lid and let it cook for 10 min.
5. Now check whether the peas have cooked md then add paneer carefully without breaking them and give it a gentle mix.
6. Add salt as per taste. Add coriander powder (2 tbsp) and add 1½ tsp of garam masala. ( I added around 2 tsp as I wanted it to be spicier) Add 1 tsp of cumin powder.
7. Now close the lid and let the paneer cook well for about 10 more minutes.
8. After 10 min check the consistency of the curry. It may be a bit thick, you can add water if so. (Don't add too much water)
9. After that chop some coriander leaves and put it the curry and mix for a while. Adding coriander gives your dish a very good flavour.
10. Now plate your dish. Or close it with a lid so that it remains hot while you serve it.

Enjoy your matar paneer with your friends and families. Have a great day! God bless.  :)

What I love about Nankhatai's the most is its crumbly texture.  I used to be quite fascinated by it in those days. While looking at it, one wouldn't predict how nice and buttery it tastes, but once you get a taste of it, it is surprisingly grainy and sweet! A weakness to all my fellow sweet lovers indeed. :) Okay, so since this nankhatai is so delicious and has that lovely texture what I didn't expect is how easy it was to make at home! So I decided to give it a try and it turned out to be absolutely yummy! It got finished within 2 days so I didn't have to worry about it getting spoilt too. Here's the recipe to nankhatai. It is so easy to make and make sure you do try it in this quarantine period when all of us are stressed and as the saying goes "Stressed spelled backwards is 'Dessert'". So go for it! Recipe for...
