Paneer Masala Recipe

Paneer Masala Recipe

This is your go-to recipe if you're running low on ingredients and appliances. If you do not have any fancy ingredients or a mixie, then do not worry you can still cook up a fantastic paneer masala! Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. :)

Ingredients:

Paneer-200g

Onions- 2

Tomato- 1

Garlic- 2 pods

Ginger- 2-3 inches long

Chillies- 1 to 2

Mustard seeds- 1 tsp

Chilly powder- 2 tsp (as per taste)

Coriander powder- 2 tsp

Garam masala- 2 tsp

Turmeric- 1-2 tsp

Salt - 1 tbsp (as per taste)

Recipe:

  • Marinate the paneer with chilly powder, salt, garam masala, turmeric powder and keep it for around 10-15 minutes.
  • In a tawa, put around 1-2 tsp of oil. Once it heats up, drop in the marinated paneer and fry it until golden brown or slightly fried from all sides. Once done, keep it separately in a plate without the excess oil.
  • In the same pan, put in 1 tsp of oil. After it heats up, put in 1 tsp of mustard seeds. Once it splutters, add in the chopped garlic, ginger and chillies. Cook it sometime until the raw taste goes. Stir this continuously to prevent it from burning.
  • After it cooks, add in the chopped onions. Stir this continuously. Add in the salt at this to prevent it from burning. Let the onions get caramelized evenly.
  • Add in the chopped tomato once the onions are well cooked. Slightly mash the tomatoes. (I like to mash it completely. You can keep it as you like.)
  • Once its cooked and mashed well, add in the masalas at this stage by keeping the flame at minimum. Add in chilly powder and salt as per taste, followed by turmeric, coriander powder and garam masala. Stir this well and let it coat the vegetables well.
  • After the masala gets cooked well, add in around half a glass of water. Let it boil for a while. Then drop in our star of the dish... paneer!
  • Mix this well. Increase the flame. Let this boil well and after the paneer gets soft and mushy, turn off the flame.
  • And there you have it.. your delicious paneer masala is ready with the simplest of ingredients.

You can pair this with butter naan or a plate of ghee rice like me. Enjoy with friends and family! :)
